Three years after getting engaged, Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams are officially newlyweds!
O Modern Family alum, 31, and bachelor in paradise bartender, 38, got married in an outdoor ceremony on Saturday, August 20, at Sunstone Winery near Santa Barbara, Calif., a source confirmed to PEOPLE.
The duo were surrounded by family and friends, including Hyland’s Modern Family co-stars Nolan Gould, Sofia Vergara (who brought along their son, Manolo Vergara), Julie Bowen and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (who was joined by her husband, Justin Mikita).

The couple first flirted on Twitter in 2016, but didn’t meet until the fall of 2017. (Adams later confirmed that he met Hyland through social media.)
Before Hyland and Adams got together, she had talked about her not-so-secret crush on him during her time vying for JoJo Fletcher’s heart in season 12 of the single in 2016.
The duo surprised fans by dressing in couple outfits Weird stuff costume for Halloween 2017. So they spent time together at his base in Nashville and hers in Los Angeles, documenting their adventures on Snapchat and Instagram.
He even planned a week-long birthday party for Hyland, which included a date at Disneyland. In December 2017, they selected and decorated their first Christmas tree together.

Adams proposed to Hyland in the summer of 2019 after nearly two years of dating. The couple originally planned to get married in August 2020, but have postponed the nuptials several times due to COVID-19 concerns amid the pandemic.
In August 2021, Adams told PEOPLE that he and Hyland were “expecting” to get married in 2022 – but he also joked that they would “go to Vegas or court” to get married if another setback occurred.
“We were supposed to get married, obviously, last year, it didn’t happen. We were supposed to get married this year, it didn’t happen,” said the actor. bachelor in paradise bartender told PEOPLE at the time.
He added: “So now we’re waiting next year, or we’re going to Vegas, or we’re going to court, I don’t know — well, we’re not going to do those last two things, but we don’t know. 2022 has to be our year, right ?!”

Last month, Hyland spoke with PEOPLE about her wedding day and what she looks forward to most when it comes to married life.
“We’re practical,” she said. “We have a home together. We have our dogs together and have been celebrating this life journey by supporting each other for almost five years. So I don’t think much will change.”
Hyland also insisted he was planning the couple’s special day “one step at a time” and “didn’t really have a lot of time to think about it.”
“I’m so excited to be able – on paper, officially – to start our family,” she added.
