Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck said “yes” for the second time. The couple, who were legally married in Las Vegas on July 17, threw a huge party at the actor’s property in Riceboro, Georgia. It’s where J. Lo and Affleck were supposed to get married 20 years ago.
People reports that Lopez, 53, wore a Ralph Lauren train and veil to the ceremony officiated by author and lifestyle coach Jay Shetty. Affleck, 50, opted for a white tuxedo jacket paired with black pants. Guests like Matt Damon, director Kevin Smith and clerks actor Jason Mewes was among those adhering to the all-white dress code.
a source said People on Friday that Lopez and Affleck had “an extraordinary weekend of celebration planned.”
“They will have a pre-wedding party, a ceremony and lots of fun lined up,” the source shared. “Children will also be part of the celebrations. It will be a beautiful weekend.”
The weekend started off dramatic with a trip to the hospital. Affleck’s mother reportedly fell off the pier and cut her leg. She was rushed to a local hospital via ambulance for stitches. Lopez and Affleck were photographed visiting before the festivities began.
The location of your big party is sentimental. Affleck bought the house, which sits on 35 hectares of land, in 2003, when he and Lopez first dated. After getting engaged, the couple postponed the wedding that was supposed to take place in Santa Barbara, Calif., due to “too much media attention”. They reportedly planned to get married at the estate in George later on, but ended up ending their relationship in 2004.
“Ben has always loved the countryside, outdoors and near the water,” said a source. entertainment tonight. “Georgia has always been a special and peaceful place for him. He has always felt comfortable there. He got his house in Riceboro when he was dating Jen and loved that they could be discreet and private there… Ben and Jen redid the house to your personal taste. There’s no doubt that Ben and Jen love the place.”
The superstars couldn’t wait until August to get married, however.
Affleck and Lopez tied the knot in a surprise ceremony last month at A Little White Wedding Chapel. Although there was no Elvis impersonator, much to the duo’s disappointment, two of their children were in attendance for the special night. Lopez wore an “old movie” dress.
“So with the best witnesses you can imagine, a dress from an old movie and a jacket from Ben’s closet, we read our own vows in the little chapel and gave each other the rings we’ll wear for the rest of our lives. Bluetooth for a (short) walk down the aisle. But in the end it was the best possible wedding we could have imagined. One we’ve dreamed of for a long time and one we’ve accomplished (in the eyes of the state, Las Vegas, a pink convertible and another ) for a long, long time,” the singer shared in her On the JLo newsletter.
“When love is real, the only thing that matters in marriage is each other and the promise we make to love, care, understand, be patient, loving and good to each other. We had that. And so much more. Best night of our lives”, concluded Lopez.
